A statement from NASA's Administrator Jim Bridenstine was released yesterday, March 19th, stating that the agency's Michoud Assembly Facility and Stennis Space Center are moving to Stage 4 today, March 20th. It's the 4th and final stage of NASA's Response Framework that limits the amount of in-person activities taking place at the facilities.
This move to Stage 4 was made, because of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area near the facilities and one confirmed case on their Stennis Space Center team. This could possibly mean even further delays to the first Artemis launch, which has already delayed to Mid-to-Late 2021. Jim Bridenstine stated at the end of this statement with, “I will continue to say, so none of us forget – there is no team better prepared for doing hard things. Take care of yourself, your family, and your NASA team.”
